Stressed Out? Learn Why Anxiety Problems Are Increasing

Anxiety is regarded as a nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness. A complex combination of emotions like worry, apprehension, fear including physical sensations like nausea, palpitations and chest pain characterizes some of the behavior of anxiety.

More or less anxiety can be described as having the expectation of an eminent danger, thereby the body reacts itself for the threat causing blood pressure and heart rate to increase dramatically. Soon symptoms like sweating, trembling, papillary dilation and paleness starts. The emotions are so caught up that panic and chillness develops and irregular behaviors occur while trying to avoid the source of anxiety. Anyhow, researchers tend to agree that anxiety is a protective mechanism to avoid potentially harmful behaviors. As expected, if this problem is a recurring case, it will affect the person seriously terming it as an anxiety disorder. To diagnose this anxiety disorder, doctors usually use a standardized interview or questionnaire procedure along with evaluation from experts and the views of the person under observation themselves.

Generalized anxiety disorder: Its a common anxiety disorder characterized by an anxiety which persist for a long time on any unspecific situation or object. These people are really sacred of something but unable to specify of what exactly. Result is that most of their time is spent on needless anxieties, thereby developing headaches, heart palpitations, dizziness, insomnia and for some, fail to cope with usual activities too.

Panic disorder: Sudden onslaught of severe terror leading to trembling, nausea, dizziness; sometimes for no particular reason at all. Actually some having panic attacks mistake it for a heart attack, bursting into emergency rooms. Its such that though the tests comes normal after investigations, the person still worries, making them even more stressful. Say a normal walk in the park may increase the heart rate, the person will soon fear that something is definitely wrong and works into a state of utter panic. Some even quit their jobs and refuses to go out with the fear of another attack. Fear of tests is also one of the anxiety disorders in students.

Phobia: Its an ongoing fear and avoidance of an object or situation whereby the person knows its all irrational but still remains anxious. Studies reveal that people with phobias tends to have vivid imaginations. Say the phrase, from a molehill to a mountain is quite appropriate. The phobia may be fear of heights, spiders, snakes, fire, water, enclosed shelter etc. Similar to this is the social phobia and love shyness.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder: Its a type of anxiety disorder characterized by obsessions and compulsions. OCD may be the anxiety to keep the house clean thereby constantly fretting about maintaining cleanliness, keeping the pen at a particular place, walking at a particular line etc.

All of these anxiety disorders are treatable. Anxiolytic prescriptions such as Diazepam, Xanax, Klonopin and Benzodiazepines and also cognitive behavioral therapy are given to correct this disorder. These anxiety disorders are very serious indeed and also the improper use of these medications may be addictive as well as make the user suicidal and more depressed. Well other ways like increasing the nutritional supplements, self help and relaxation exercises, proper sleep, meditations etc are some of the popular methods utilized by anxiety disorder patients.
